Andrew Cook - Aspiring Artist

My name is Andrew Cook, a 21 year old aspiring artist, with a love for movement and a desire to explore and define the boundaries that surround my practice as a dancer.

Artistic Vision

My main focus as a performing artist is the expression of dancing roles that require a level of connection with the audience. This performance, this level of acting combined with dance, to me, represents the ultimate challenge. It is this balance between physical athleticism and performing that, as far as I’m concerned, is what Dance as an art form should be. This balance requires an equal amount of devotion and perfection from both the dancer and the choreographer, which reflects the second part of my love of movement. As a dancer, my priority is the expression and connection with the audience that is the first and foremost priority on the stage, whereas as a choreographer, my priority is in the creation of new and unique movements to stir the audience’s emotions. As a choreographer, my main love is using contrasting movements to grab the audiences’ attention, whilst maintaining some physical semblance of order and fluidity to create a piece that the dancer can enjoy, thereby making it easier to perform to an audience.
